Giovanni Caboto Outdoor Pool and Outdoor Ice Rink

Project Description

Peter T. Mitches & Associates Limited was retained because the existing pool filtration system had reached its end-of-life cycle. This facility also required various architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical work associated with the outdoor ice rink and service building.

The scope of work included a new pool filtration system including upgrading to a sand filter system from an open pit system (DE) and providing an emergency stop. The pool changerooms were modified to provide barrier-free accessibility. Extensive concrete repairs to the pool shell and pool deck, as well as upgrading the existing water slide, were completed. All new doors and frames (with associated hardware) were provided throughout the facility and a partial roof replacement was completed. An AODA-compliant ramp and stairs were installed at the main entrance along with all new exit and emergency lighting. The project included renovating the lifeguard office and designing a new make-up air unit and exhaust system for the building.
