Withrow Artificial Ice Rink

Project Description:

Peter T. Mitches & Associates Limited was retained because the existing outdoor ice rink slab and refrigeration equipment (condenser, chiller and compressors) had reached their end-of-life cycle and required replacement.

Scope of work included a new concrete pad, refrigeration equipment, dasher boards, fencing, and exterior sports lighting. AODA compliant upgrades were undertaken including providing barrier-free pathways around the rink slab and a new set of stairs and accessible ramp to traverse the embankment. The basement level of the refrigeration building was filled-in, raising all the services and equipment to grade and corresponding changes to the adjacent storm sewers.
